These Terms & Conditions govern all camera rentals through Wen's The Next Occasion, operated by Fiona Wen, based in Vancouver, BC, Canada. By completing a booking you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to these terms in full.
1 Rentals Only

Wen's The Next Occasion is a camera rental service only. All cameras remain the sole property of Fiona Wen at all times. Cameras are not available for purchase under any circumstances. Inquiries about purchasing cameras will not be entertained.

2 Eligibility & Identification

To rent a camera you must:

  • Provide a valid government-issued photo ID (driver's licence or passport) at the time of pickup
  • Provide a valid email address and phone number
  • Provide a physical address in the Greater Vancouver area
  • Have an active Instagram account and be reachable via Instagram DM at @wensthenextoccasion for the duration of the rental period
Communication requirement: Renters must be contactable and responsive on Instagram for the full duration of their rental. Failure to respond to messages may result in the rental being terminated early.

Fiona reserves the right to refuse a rental to anyone at her sole discretion.

3 Booking & Confirmation

Submitting a booking request does not guarantee availability. A rental is only confirmed once Fiona has responded and verbally or digitally confirmed your booking.

Rental dates and camera selection are confirmed at the time of agreement. Changes to dates or camera selection are subject to availability and must be requested as early as possible.

4 Security Deposit

A security deposit of $100 CAD is required at the time of pickup for all cameras. This deposit is held as security against damage, loss, or theft.

The deposit is refunded in full upon return of the camera in the same condition it was provided.

The deposit may be forfeited in whole or in part depending on the condition of the camera upon return. See Section 6 (Damage Policy) for full details.

5 Rental Period & Returns

The rental period begins at the time of pickup and ends at the agreed return date and time. Late returns must be communicated to Fiona as soon as possible and may incur additional daily rental charges.

  • Day rental: returned by end of same day or agreed time
  • Weekend rental: Friday pickup, Monday return
  • Weekly rental: returned within 7 days of pickup
Delivery requests must be made at least 2 weeks prior to the rental start date. Additional delivery fees may apply for areas past East Vancouver. Delivery availability is at Fiona's discretion.

Failure to return the camera within a reasonable period beyond the agreed date may be treated as theft and reported to the appropriate authorities.

No-show on return date: If the renter fails to return the camera on the agreed return date without prior notice, Fiona has the full right to contact the renter and attend their provided address to retrieve the camera in person. The renter must return the camera immediately upon request, no questions asked. Refusal to return the camera will be treated as theft and reported to the Vancouver Police Department.
6 Damage Policy

The renter is fully responsible for the camera from the moment of pickup to the moment of return. Fiona will inspect the camera upon return.

Minor damage (scratches, scuffs, minor cosmetic damage): the full security deposit of $100 will be retained by Fiona.

Severe or total damage (camera is broken, non-functional, or destroyed): the full security deposit is retained and the renter is required to reimburse Fiona the full replacement cost of the camera.

What constitutes minor vs. severe damage is determined solely by Fiona upon inspection. Renters are encouraged to take their own photos of the camera before and after use.

7 Loss or Theft

If the camera is lost or stolen during the rental period, the renter is fully liable. The security deposit will be retained in full and the renter must pay the full replacement cost of the camera.

Fiona reserves the right to file a police report in the event of non-return, theft, or suspected theft. The renter's ID and contact information provided at pickup may be shared with authorities as part of this process.

Please note: cameras may be equipped with a tracking device (AirTag or similar). Wen's The Next Occasion reserves the right to use tracking technology to locate unreturned cameras.
8 Cancellations

Cancellations must be made at least 72 hours before the rental start date to receive a full cancellation with no charge.

Cancellations made within 72 hours of the rental start date may incur a cancellation fee at Fiona's discretion.

No-shows without prior notice will forfeit any deposit paid and may be denied future rentals.

9 Photos & Data

All photos taken during the rental period are stored on the camera's memory card. Upon return of the camera, Fiona will export all photos and send them to the renter via the email address provided at booking.

Photos will be exported within a reasonable timeframe after return. The renter is responsible for saving their photos once received — Wen's The Next Occasion is not responsible for long-term storage of customer photos.

Fiona will not view, share, or distribute any customer photos without explicit consent.

10 Condition of Equipment

All cameras are cleaned, tested, and inspected before every rental. Each camera is provided with a fully charged battery and a formatted memory card.

Renters must use the camera responsibly and in accordance with its intended purpose. Cameras must not be:

  • Submerged in water (unless the camera is specifically rated waterproof)
  • Lent or sub-rented to any third party
  • Taken outside of Canada without prior written agreement
  • Tampered with, modified, or repaired by anyone other than Fiona
11 Limitation of Liability

Wen's The Next Occasion and Fiona Wen are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from the use of rental equipment, including but not limited to loss of photos, missed events, or equipment malfunction.

Fiona makes every effort to ensure cameras are in full working condition before each rental, but cannot guarantee uninterrupted operation.

12 Governing Law

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia, Canada. Any disputes arising from a rental agreement shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of British Columbia.
